A Week at a Glance

What a week!!! This week's catch phrase: "When it rains it pours!" that is the truth, though I welcome actual rain, I would rather everything else go smoothly; that was not the case. It starting pouring on Thursday when Jayce woke up with a 102 fever, I had to call in (I am out of sick days, so this is an expensive day already), I get Jayce an appointment, he test positive for the flu, those of you who know, John and Henry had the flu in November. So, needless to say, I freaked!!! Luckily we caught it very early, 4 days later, 2 days off work; the fever is gone, and I pray we come out of this one with minimal damage. On top of this, I have lost my voice, Henry had his 2nd grade play, and add the regular routine of life, I can safely say "I am soooooo ready for Spring Break!"

Henry's Week at a Glance:
Henry had his 2nd grade play, it was all about Texas, it was cute and a nice break from the daily routine. He got to have a friend over on Wednesday, I always love to watch Henry with is friends, this shy, reserved kid we all know, disappears. We topped of the week with a much needed hair cut, which he proudly stated afterwards, "Mom, I am one good looking kid!" Oh, Henry!!!!
He also fished in the pond and caught one of the biggest catfish I have ever seen come out of our pond.

Jayce's Week at a Glance:
Jayce's week started off normal, until early Thursday morning when he woke up burning with fever. For a kid that had the flu, he still had so much energy, I wish I had a fraction of that energy. It is safe to say, he was spoiled more than usual this week. ;) He insisted on getting a haircut, because he wanted to make a faux-hawk. What amazes me the most is when he is the only kid, how different he is. He is calm, and listens, and is so polite. Add big bro in the mix and crazy Jayce happens.

Have a wonderful week.

What a Valentine's Day we had. John and I don't make a big deal of the holiday in respects to our marriage, we have our anniversary and the lithe daily things that mean more, but being a parent, the day takes on a different, more fun meaning!!! I love to see the kids get excited about the parties, the cards, and of course the candy! :) Plus, I have fun being creative on the valentines they will hand-out! This year was no exception, it was fun considering we had school/work. They painted, sorted their goodies, and I think I have it down finally, their Valentine Goody bags from me and John!!! Hope everyone had a sweet Valentine's day.

We started off the evening with some painting.
I love this one and the head-to-head painting!
Then they opened their goodie bags.

I love the look on Hen's face!
Jayce showing off his monkey that his sweetheart Kate gave him. (insert eye-roll)
 My Valentines
Jayce is really concentrating on his letters!

Showing off their gifts from Grandma & Grandpa Bente
I have a thing for owls, mostly in my classroom, I have a bulletin board of funny e-cards, etc, I found this one and I just love it!!!!
I want to mention my two older cousins, their families had a rough week this week and I would like to request that you keep them in your prayers this week. I pray for peace and comfort for you guys.

Have a nice weekend,
XOXO

Catching Up

This post is dedicated to Nanny, for reminding me that I need to update my blog!

Grab a cup of coffee and get comfortable, because I have some major catching up to do!! I admit I have not been doing a very good job of keeping up on post, I am going to try to do better.

December 2012:
Boys making cookies for Santa
Christmas morning: that Elford is a trickster, he crepe papered the boys' door Christmas morning...

John's family came in for a visit, we took pictures of the cousins, visited Santa's Wonderland, and just enjoyed hanging out...

January 2013:

I changed my hair color...it is actually a little darker now since this picture was taken.
John and I celebrated our 11th Anniversary: we enjoyed dinner at Outback Steakhouse and just hung out together!
I captured this sweet, sharable moment!
Jayce loves his 4 wheeler from Papa
 He has a blast!!!
This is my Southwestern Bell jacket from when I was a kid!!! (This is for Nan & Pa!)
Henry who, received a bike for Christmas and even Christmas morning informed us he did not want a bike, has become really good at riding and this is daily activity that he really enjoys. Thus, proving that I am always right!
Bros playing out in the cold!
John and I out with friends celebrating his and Layla's birthday!
Jayce now has a bike that he thinks is super cool thanks to Grammy!
This is Kate, Jayce's main squeeze at daycare--I am talking they hold hands and sit together, I believe we are in big trouble with this casanova! He always talks about her and has even seen things and ask us to buy things so he can give her a present. "Lord help us with this one!"
Going on a family bike ride!
I love this picture, I think he looks so much like John here!
Our daily bike rides and the neighbor who comes to play almost daily wears this kiddo out!!
Here we went shopping and he found these slippers and insisted on wearing the the rest of the day!
My other shopping buddy who scored on this $10 TCU hoodie, he was proud of this find!
I just realized I have not taken too many February pictures, I will get on that right away so I can make sure I update the blog for what we did in February. We are really looking forward to Spring break and we are counting down the days!!!!! Hope all is well with everyone, we love you and take care!!

This and that....

What a season we have had at the Bente Casa. I cannot begin to describe the trials we have been up against. Starting in October Jayce's ear infections became more and more persistent. So troublesome, we had to go to the ENT and he had tubes and his adenoids removed the Monday after Thanksgiving. He faired well minus a little freak out when coming out of anesthesia and a sore throat from the breathing tube. Back up a week during Thanksgiving, Jayce was fighting yet another ear infection, I had a severe sinus infection and Henry and John came down with the flu. We seem to be going back uphill on the battle now, but it has not been easy. We are all very tired and have had some easy days at home lately.

In the mean time, we have been trying to make the best of our situation. I will let the pictures tell that story...

We ended our 2nd season of flag football in 2nd place, but the improvement in Henry is something to be proud of.

Henry and his friends at a friend's birthday party.
 Jayce and his BFF Alyssa!
We went to SPI for Thanksgiving as usual, considering how sick we were, we still had a really nice time, you won't see John in any pictures, he was in bed running a 103 fever. :(

Jayce and his Tay-Tay
 And his Aunty Jess
Typical J having fun on his own.
But he sure loves his cousin
 Cousins being silly
 My boys!
Love this picture with the Grandparents
Even got a good Mommy and boys picture.
 Henry being Hen!!!
Henry with his trampoline burn on his forehead!
 Being silly with me!!
 Love this picture!!
 Ruben's hand is "John"! Ha!
John's family was so awesome while we were sick, they really picked up the slack and entertained the boys. Dad took Henry fishing, I don't think he will ever realize how special that was for Henry.
 Jayce before his surgery.

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and we will catch up soon. XOXO
