August 23, 2010: Henry's First Day of Kindergarten
I have to admit I did not take this milestone well. We went to meet the teacher on August 19th, it was a great experience, Henry was able to see his new room and was assured that several of his pre-school classmates were in his class. That took a lot of nerves away from him and he became so excited. We get back into the car and I burst into tears! I had to quickly reassure Henry that they were happy tears and I just could not believe that he was starting school. The night before we read a book about the first day of kindergarten and when it got to the drop off part, yes I cried again. I know, but I really could not control my emotions. The morning of I had much more control of my emotions and I was able to enjoy helping Henry get ready and take in the moment. Here is a few pictures of our morning.
Our sleepy-headed Kindergartner
He woke up excited and ready to go.
So proud, he remembered to brush his teeth. HA!
The backpack makes him look small.
Love this picture!
When I went to pick Henry up that afternoon, it was an experience, the car-rider line was out on the road and it took me 45 minutes to get to Henry, he had tears in his eyes because he was worried that I wasn't going to pick him up. (Which I never understand, really, when has that ever happened??) He later informed me that he was just nervous because he had never done that before and assured me that from now on if I could not get there early it would be okay. He is so sweet! When asked how his day went, he was ecstatic and could not stop talking about everything that they did. Later in the week they went to music class and he said it was "more than awesome". That is right up his ally. I am so thankful that he goes to such a great school with such wonderful staff.
August 18, 2010: A Haircut
For the past few months we have been having a real problem with Jayce being mistaken for a girl, which is crazy, I always have him in very obvious boy clothes, but honestly he is very cute with those big blue eyes. On this particular day, enough was enough, he had an incident at Subway and a very annoying employee just kept calling Jayce a she, even after I corrected her. The result was, me trying to cut hair. It did not go smooth at first because I was trying to do it with scissors, but then I remembered the clippers and I do believe it turned out very nice.
Jayce's hair is easy to cut, so I believe I will be the person cutting his hair for awhile!
August 14, 2010: Hanging around the house
I went out to the garage to change a load of laundry and this is what I come back to...
Speaking of the garage, Jayce loves the garage because the 4 wheeler is in there, first chance he gets he will slip away from you and this is what you find...
Complete with Oreo goatee!
He loves to ride on the 4 wheeler and he loves his big brother.
August 11, 2010: The Park
Last on Henry's wish list was to go to the park. They had fun but he realized why we do not really go until fall. IT'S HOT!
This was Jayce's first time to go and get to play, last time he was still in the carrier.
A herd of ducks came running towards us, probably thinking we had food, they were in for a surprise, Jayce chases our ducks at home but to have this many in one place was just too much fun!
Later that evening, I was refusing that this was the official last day of my summer vacation we decided to go out on the boat. Henry enjoys the boat, I wish we had more time to take it out, I forget how fun it is when the weather is perfect!
Goodbye Summer, we will see you soon!
